Description:

Artificial intelligence is transforming education—but the greatest opportunity is not simply adopting new tools. It is reimagining the purpose of learning. Most schools continue to prepare students for a world built around compliance, memorization, and standardized pathways. Yet the AI era increasingly rewards curiosity, creativity, empathy, entrepreneurship, and the ability to solve authentic problems. The question facing school leaders is no longer “How do we use AI?” but rather “How do we redesign learning so AI enhances what makes us uniquely human?”

In this highly interactive workshop, participants will explore the evolution of the Passengers to Explorers framework, which emerged through the development of the Institute for Design and Innovation (IDI) at the American Embassy School in New Delhi. Building on design thinking and current research on learner agency, the session demonstrates how AI can strengthen, not replace, human-centered learning by accelerating empathy interviews, deepening ideation, expanding feedback loops, and enabling students to create solutions with authentic impact. Participants will experience hands-on activities and live demonstrations, redesigning one of their own learning experiences using AI as a creative partner rather than a shortcut.

The workshop concludes by exploring what it takes to move from isolated classroom innovation to sustainable school-wide change, including stakeholder trust, responsible AI principles, teacher adoption, change management and the organisational conditions that allow innovation to scale.
